KIDS: You Can't Beat 'Em
KIDS: You Can't Beat 'Em is a public-awareness campaign on the issues of child abuse and neglect, particularly
their links with substance abuse. The campaign aims to provide friends, neighbors, and community groups (such as childcare providers, various faith communities, and family-service agencies) with strategies for supporting families and taking appropriate action to prevent mistreatment of Hawai‘i's children. Program elements include:
- Developing and distributing materials relating to child abuse and neglect which focus on prevention and contain actions all people can take to strengthen families
- Reaching out to communities through user friendly and culturally relevant materials for professionals who work with children and families, and forums and seminars for community groups
- Educating the broader community through a print and media campaign
- Enhancing the Circle of Support, which will evolve from training conducted by professionals and community leaders who will take the KIDS: You Can't Beat 'Em campaign into their communities
KIDS: You Can't Beat 'Em is funded by the Hawai‘i Children's Trust Fund and directed by the Center on the Family, University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa. It is designed to
multiply the impact of the Center on the Family's efforts by enlisting community groups with an interest in the overall health and well-being of children and families.
