LTG Kith and Kin Outreach Program
The Kith and Kin Outreach component of LTG is
guided by the following goal: to give parents and their kith-and-kin care
providers support and guidance to enhance their knowledge and skills, so they
can provide
care that fosters children's early learning and healthy development.
"Both me and my child appreciate everything that LTG has done for us. The books, activity, and packets of information helps the both of us to spend time together, inform me of my child's growth, etc. Thank you for all that you have done. Mahalo Nui Loa!!" (LTG parent)

The Kith and Kin Outreach program provides statewide educational outreach
services to families with children ages birth to 5 who receive government-sponsored subsidies for
license-exempt child care (care provided by relatives or friends). The program's primary feature
is the monthly dissemination of a home-learning packet consisting of a variety of resource materials
that provide information about developmentally appropriate activities, interactions, and experiences
that are safe, healthy, interesting, and doable, using readily available materials found in the home.
These "user-friendly" materials are easy to read and comprehend and are culturally competent.
They are designed for three age groups: infants (birth to 12 months), toddlers (12 to 36 months),
and preschoolers (36 to 60 months), to provide families with age-appropriate information.
Participants receive a free, age-appropriate children's book for each activity sheet they complete
with their children and return to LTG.
"Continue this great program. Your books have given my grandson a love of books. He even was able to share in a group play setting about a book we had received and read. It boosted his self-esteem to be a step ahead."
